Yes, it’s geared towards children.  However people are still ranting and raving about Mario Cart, Zelda, etc etc.  It’s an entertaining game, which isn’t the only reason why I like it.  The game’s usage of the accelerometer is superb, graphics are great, sound is crystal clear and even if your adult there are some levels where you’ll be wondering “How the heck was this level made for kids?”.

9. Moonlight Mahjong Lite

Even if you don’t like the Mahjong game, for whom have downloaded this and gave it a test run has to admit it’s impressive.  You can pinch to zoom in, expanding pinch to zoom out, rotate two fingers to rotate the board and drag two fingers to rotate the pieces in Open GL 3D!  It’s relaxing, nice time-passer, and I haven’t had this game crash my iPhone to date thus far.  Quite pleasant.

4. Labyrinth Lite Edition

We’ve all had this game…a wooden box with a metal ball in it, and trying to finish the maze without sinking it into any of the holes towards the end.  The game’s ability to function perfectly with what it would be like non-virtual is stunning, and makes this game exciting.  Definitely try it, if you haven’t already!

3. Tap Tap Revenge

If you’ve liked the DDR series, Guitar Hero or Rock Band, then getting this game for your phone is an easy decision.  Lush graphics, great music, and difficulty up to levels that would give you arthritis faster than you could say “iPhone”, it’s a great game to play with your friends or just by yourself.  The best part, it’s free!

2. iDoodle2 (Non-Lite version)

The “Lite” version, or “Free” version of this does not have nearly all of the excellent features of the full version of iDoodle2, thus the full version of this App gets the top ten.

This app is great for artists, kids, or people who just want to play around with making images.  iDoodle2 gives you the functionality to :

- Draw on photos from your library or from the iPhone camera
- Draw with the Pen or Blob tool to get great fluid shapes
- Use the Line, Rectangle, or Oval shape to create simple geometric shapes
- Annotate your drawings or photos with the text tool
- Replay your doodles to show off your skills

I’ve personally been using this app since it’s release, and I cannot tell you how much fun I have had with this app, and will continue to have with this app.  You can easily change the opacity of your ‘pen’ tool, change the size of it, and immediately its like drawing with a pencil.  You can shade, color, draw shapes, and draw on images which you can grab from your camera on the spot, or from your image library. This app is AWESOME.  Worth the $2.99.

So, you say you don’t want to type?  The new commenting system has an integrated “Video Commenting” system, which allows you, the reader, to open up that web cam of ours and speak your mind.  Simply hit the “Record Video Comment” sign up on Seemsmic (only takes about 1-2 minutes, and it’s free) and record away!

For whom who don’t know already…FiOS is the greatest thing to hit the internet service market.  More glorious than Firefox 3 , more glorious than the Internet Explorer cake Mozilla got after launching Firefox 3, and definitely way more glorious than  a bunchofcrazyantseatingageckoinadaywhichreallymakesyounotwanttogooutsideandenjoythesunshine.

Kidding. FiOS seriously is  awesome.

They offer a 20/20 service (which is 20Mbits down, 20Mbits UP) and now just recently a 50/20 service (50Mbits down, 20mbits up).

Ready for this? I’m going to rain on your parade.

What is even more awesome is that Verizon apparently hates connecticut (yeah, I spelled caveat wrong, so what?).

Connecticut’s (except one town listed below) not getting it.  Stay happy with your 1.5/512, 5/1, 10/2 services and paying a premium for them.  I called verizon for clarification to see if there’s going to be any installment of their services in connecticut in the future, I quote “Verizon hasn’t installed anything really in the past 9 years“.

Let that sink in.

However, “JoAnne” did say, regardless of that 9 year black hole, that Greenwich DOES HAVE the service.  However every other town in Connecticut, (EVEN HARTFORD) doesn’t.

But your probably wondering “Who would actually download at 50Mbits a second? ( 6.25Megabytes a second)”.  Me.  I currently have 10Mbit/s (1.2ish Megabytes down) and 1Mbit up, the fact of multiplying my download speed by 5 and my upload speed by 20 is quite appealing.  Here’s why.

I’m a downloading freak.  From streaming video, iTunes downloads and movie rentals, and now with HD videos now becoming more apparent on the web…50Mbit in 5 years will be a norm.  I mean come on, the average download speed in Japan is 61Mbit/s already…we’re WAY behind.

Let me give you a for instance if you’re content with your 2Mbit or maybe you’re content with your Dial-up and have seriously locked yourself underground.

6.25MegaBytes a second DOWNLOADING,  2.5MegaBytes a second UPLOADING.

• 100 Megabytes in 16 seconds
• 1GB in 2.6 Minutes
• 10GB in 26 Minutes

So that means your typical 4.71GB Full DVD movie would take 12.6 minutes.  If you want your precious HD DVD, it would take 40 minutes (15GB size, remember!).

So when you really think about it, 50Mbit down would still take 40 minutes to download a 1080p high def video.  However, compared to what you may have now (HD DVD Download time for 5Mbit Cable : 6.6Hours, 10Mbit Cable 3.3 Hours, Dial-Up…Dig yourself a grave…) It’s the way the internet is progressing with speed.

And at $90 a month, it’s honestly PRETTY REASONABLE.

But…

Our relationship is over Verizon…oh wait, we never had one.

So, likewise, throughout my working there and actually, various Starbucks locations spread from the east of CT to the west, I had their “T-Mobile Hotspot Wifi” thing…$40 a month, and it got old really quickly. Now, about 3 months later…they do this.

I suppose, after McDonalds and allegedy Dunkin Donuts, the stress of supplying a free service is greater than before, however I can definitely see some problems arising in the future.

1. The internet speed is so ungodly slow that no one wants to use it (e.g. Little Tommy is going on his laptop to download games and such, and business professionals can’t even check their email)
2. iPhones take over the speed by themselves…with all of these wifi enabled devices, it may be treacherous.
3. May take a while for certain starbucks locations to actually get the “free wifi” ability.

If you haven’t noticed, Starbucks (for about 2 months now) have actually been equipped with two routers in their locations. A T-Mobile router and an AT&T router, I haven’t had time to test it out yet, but I believe (seeings how the at&t wifi routers were just installed) that you’ll be connecting to these, instead of the t-mobile routers. What will happen to the T-Mobile ones? Who knows.

Oh, not to rain on your parade, it’s only 2 free hours of internet time…check out the strings attached to it..

Nay, instead I asked how I could boost my upload speed.

Per-say an “Amy” I talked too, they’re doing away with their 3Mbps…keeping their 5Mbps and their 10Mbps…and adding a 16Mbps / 2Mbps up package!

This is new news to me, as apparently it’s not available in my area quite yet, however I was advised “It is coming”. Regardless if they can ‘track what I see’, in the end result I hope they can see where I’ve been on the web, a bunch of visits to the comcast website. Surprise fools!
